Make the State Team

Personal:

When I was 6 years old, I started playing soccer. I thought soccer was going to be my life, and after 5 years of rec soccer, I joined the travel team. I played on a travel soccer team for four years. All the coach told me was that I was amazing at running up and down the field but my ball control skills were horrific. We used to do runs as a team (3-4 miles) and I loved it. My old babysitter was on the varsity and state cross country team. Every day she would try and persuade me to run xc. I told her I would never run and I hated running. Then one day, my mom signed me up for the cross country team. I thought it was the worst day of my life, until I realize now that it is the best decision my mom has ever made. I quit soccer completely because I stunk at it, and I was so much better at running. Since then, running is my life, and I do not know what I would do without it.

Freshman year xc: I was pretty mediocre. Not the best season, my best PR was 21:06. I stayed injury free but had never learned correct running form.

Freshman year indoor track: I went to practice every day. I competed in every race, and was racing and practicing super well. I even ran 2 events at indoor states. I ran in the 4x8 and the 1200 leg of the DMR.

Freshman year outdoor track: I was injured the whole time due to bad running form. I relearned how to run the proper way. I had a inflamed iliac crest (right hip). I was out all of track. It was by far one of the worst days of my life when the doctor told me I would not be able to run in outdoor track.

Sophomore year xc: I was on varisty B. This was my best year running wise, and made Top 10 on my team. Competed well until the end of the season when the temperature started turning weirdly hot.

Sophomore year track: I got injured. Again. I went to the doctor to get an MRI. My legs had changed for the worse since last year when I had gotten an MRI. I am now banned from doing indoor track because that is what has caused these past injuries. The indoor track we run on hurt me, and my body doesn't react well with hardwood floors. I had a inflamed shin. I was out for three months and could only swim.

Since these past two injuries, I am committed to staying on track (no pun intended) and gearing up for cross country season.

I am a junior at Saline High School. I love running, playing violin, and volunteering.

Update, got my xrays yesterday. I should get the results either today or tomorrow. I will probably be out for the rest of the season. I hate this so much.
